Jo tämän pipon kohdalla murisin siitä, kuinka isotukkaiselle ihmiselle pipoa tehdessä alkaa usein usko ja kärsivällisyys loppua kesken kun projekti kestää ja kestää. No, paitsi että kyseinen tukka on iso, se myös kasvaa. Joka johtaa siihen, että viime talven löysät lempipot ovat nyt auttamattomasti liian pieniä. Kun minulta oli pitkään pyydetty uutta löysää pipoa neuloin sellaisen lopulta salaa joululahjaksi. Ensin pelkäsin, että siitä tulee ihan liian pieni, ja loppusuoralla taas että ihan liian iso - pipo näytti siltä että siinä olisi voinut säilöä vaikka jalkapalloa. Lopputulos: täydellisen kokoinen pipo ja tyytyväinen poikaystävä. Ainakin siihen asti, kun se pakotettiin seisomaan ulkona pakkasessa kuvattavana.

Langan ostin Villavyyhdistä samalla kun hain matskua Norsiksen lankapalloon. Huomioni kiinnittyi viininpunaiseen joka näytti ihan saman väriseltä kuin pojan lempitassuttimissa. Tykkäämme molemmat niiden väristä, mutta silloista viininpunaista lankaa en ole myöhemmin löytänyt enää mistään, enkä aiemmin edes mitään samanväristä. No, tämä väri osuu todella lähelle, kuten viimeisestä kuvasta voi todeta. (Huomatkaa myös innostunut ilme, joka juontaa juurensa aiemmin kuvailtuihin sääolosuhteisiin.)

Tämä oli ensimmäinen kunnon projektini Cascade 220:n kanssa - aikaisemmin olin neulonut ainoastaan lahjoituksena saadusta jämäkerästä muutaman raidan huiviin. Lankaa oli todella miellyttävä neuloa, vaikka vähän isommat puikot olisivat ehkä tehneet neuloksesta vielä nätimpää ja etenemisestä sujuvampaa. Lanka tuntui pehmeältä, joustavalta ja kestävältä. Ja ne värit, niissähän on tarjolla vaikka mitä ihanuuksia! Vähän vielä jännittää, että miten pipo käyttäytyy pesussa - yleensä pesen sataprosenttisenkin villan koneessa mutta en ole ihan varma uskallanko tällä kertaa. En tiedä haluanko ottaa riskiä, että täytyy heti ryhtyä neulomaan uutta jättipipoa.

When making this hat I complained already how making a hat to someone with big hair wears out the patience as it seems to never get finishes. Well, not only is this hair big, it also gets bigger all the time. And that means the favourite slouchy hats from last year are way too small nowadays. I was asked to knit a new slouchy hat for a long time and I finally secretly knitted it for Christmas. First I was afraid it would be too small and then I feared it would be too big - in the end it looked suitable for storing a football. Final result: a hat of the perfect size and a happy boyfriend. At least until I made him to stay outside in the freezing weather to take these pictures.

I bough the yarn from a local shop in Helsinki while I was getting materials for the yarn ball I made for Norsis. This shade of wine red just caught up my attention as the color looked similar to the one in his favourite mitts. We both love that colour but I haven't found that same yarn anywhere ever since, and until now not even anything with similar color. Well, this one gets close, as you can see from the last picture. (Also note the enthusiastic expression originating from the weather conditions.)

This was my first proper project with Cascade 220 - previously I had only knitted a few stripes to a scarf from a little scrap ball given to me. It was very lovely to knit, even though I think using slightly bigger needles would have resulted even a nicer outcome and faster knitting. The yarn was soft, bouncy and resistant. And those colours, so many lovely ones! I am a bit worried though about what will happen when I'll wash this - I usually wash even 100% wool in the washing machine but don't know if I'll dare to do it this time. I'm not sure if I'm ready to take the risk of having to make another huge hat soon
